Valerie Edwards

Volunteer Coordinator

Hi, my name is Valerie Edwards, I have been married to Tommy for
50 years and we have two sons a grandson and a grand dog.
I worked in accounts until my retirement 3 years ago.
I have always been a keen volunteer, serving 30 years as a Boys brigade leader, and just under 30 as a Sunday school teacher.
With volunteering, you get much more back than you put in I highly recommend it.
I became involved with the KCCV in January 2023, initially litter picking, then helping with the community garden and planters.
I was then asked to become a joint volunteer coordinator with the community fridge in June 2023
My role involves recruiting new volunteers, training and supporting them with regular contact. Listening to any concerns they may have and aiming to resolve them at our Monthly meetings .
Maintaining the rota for the community fridge , making sure all shifts are covered and filling in when needed.
We have a great team of volunteers and we are all working towards reducing food waste in Kirkliston
